Chromium is very important component of Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF). GTF promotes the combination of insulin and cell receptor to increase animal tissues absorption of glucose as without the insulin, glucose could not be absorbed from tissues. Chromium is necessary for normal lipid metabolism to maintain cholesterol level, to regulate the synthesis and elimination of lipid and cholesterol in liver.
Chromium supplementation decreases cholesterol deposition in arteries & its blood concentration. Chromium promotes the utilization of glycine, serine, methionine in liver, which strengthen protein synthesis. When birds are under stress, serum cortisol concentration will rise, but glucocorticoid is a steroid which will restrain the growth and immunity in animal system. Chromium can effectively alleviate stress by reducing cortisol concentration and enhance immunoglobulin and antibody concentration to strengthen bird's immunity.
